I first stepped in to 64 Main Street about a year ago to participate in a KAIROS blanket exercise. A variety of community members joined to learn about the historic and on-going relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. Workshops are only a small part of what the Sackville Commons Co-op (or SCC) has to offer to the Sackville community. It is a Coworking space that encourages collaboration, openness, community, accessibility and sustainability. It provides a range of services to organizations, individuals and businesses as a hub where workspace, education and support are available.
For the last two weeks of June, the SCC is hosting a New Brunswick Information Session from 5-8:30PM on Tuesday June 19th. A Women in Business Luncheon is being held on Wednesday June 20th from 11-2PM. Daybreak Activity Centre, a founding member at 62 Main St., is organizing a Summer Solstice Community Gathering on Friday June 22 from 5-9PM. Nature NB is using the space on Sunday June 24th for Nature Kids NB. Daybreak Activity Centre hosts weekly soup Mondays at noon and tea Tuesdays at 2PM. Monday Mingles occur weekly at 64 Main from 9-11AM with free coffee.
After about 1.5 years since its creation, the SCC is continuing to evolve in order to best serve the Sackville community. What potential do YOU see with this space? How can we grow? How can we serve you better? How can we improve the Sackville experience? As the community liaison for the summer, I hope we can have these conversations and work together to find some rad improvements.
