Things have been hot at The Commons this past month, and it’s not only because we welcomed summer weather. We have hosted an abundance of awesome events and we want to share our successes with you!
On June 2nd we hosted a fundraiser supper for the Wabanaki Water Walkers, a group following along the Wabanaki River in protest against the Alton Gas Project. This event was a huge success as we fed approximately 30 people and raised $339 in support of their mission to protect clean water sources and Mother Nature!
On June 13th we held a meeting about bringing a Good Food Box program back to the Tantramar region! By buying locally sourced fresh fruits and veggies in bulk, individuals end up paying a fraction of the cost. Interested in joining the conversation? Please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
You may have known that our coworking space is flexible, but did you know that The Commons doubles as a concert venue?! On June 17th Halifax-based bands Fungus and Holy Crow joined forces with Moon Trout from Amherst for one incredible show!
On June 19th Andy Marr offered a free workshop focused on budgeting, debt management and developing a financial health mindset. This popular event may make a resurgence in the future, so stay tuned!
On June 23rd we held our first Clothing Swap of the summer. This event works by people donating their used clothing and then going home with rad new items in exchange. The best part? It’s completely FREE! Future Clothing Swaps will be held on July 21st and August 18th from 2-4pm.
