Whether you are in need or seeking to help in the Tantramar Region, here are some resources for you!

Even though we’re not open to the public, we’re trying to help figure out ways to help during these troubling times- and we’ve been hearing a lot of food security and access concerns from our community. The reality is, some people are about to face food insecurity for the first times in their lives in addition to the high number of people in our region who already struggle making ends meet— and we need to support our community needs!

**While engaging in all forms of assistance, we will be following the most recent precautions for COVID-19, including using gloves, regular handwashing, masks (when possible), social distancing, hand sanitizer, food-grade sanitizer and limiting the number of people in our spaces. Please be mindful do to the evolving situation, our activities, protocols and precautions may shift. **

Food For Families

We’re offering space to the Tantramar School Food Response at The Commons. We want to emphasize that if you *aren’t* in need, but you suspect you may need some food support in the coming weeks? It’s incredibly helpful if you get in touch so we can rally support! Adding your name to the list actually helps us get more support stepping forward.

HUGE and Special thanks to Breakfast Clubs of Canada, Middle Sackville Baptist Church, Food Depot Alimentaire, Lindsay Cary, Tara Albert and many more for making such help possible 🙂 Pickup of family food packages will be available at The Commons on Wednesdays 4pm-6pm and some deliveries are also available across Tantramar.

For more information: Please contact tantramarschoolfood@gmail.com or leave a message at 536-2615 and they will get back to you as soon as possible. Check the Salem Home & School page– assistance available for Dorchester, Port Elgin, Sackville and all Tantramar High School feeder areas. To remove obstacles for care, there is no ‘proof of need’ necessary– just confirmation of the number of people in your household.

Update: Food packages are available for all Tantramar families needing extra assistance at this time. Packages include milk, eggs, cheese, applesauce, granola bars, bread, bagels, peanut butter, cereal, apples and oranges. Deliveries are available. Please contact tantramarschoolfood@gmail.com or leave a message at 536-2615 and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
If you do not need assistance now but think you will in future weeks, please let us know. We want to help and this will help us with food ordering and planning
Please spread the word! There are breakfast and snack packages available for Tantramar school families in need. Please share this poster so it can reach all those that need it. ❤️
